Resolution loss Several users have reported a loss of some or all-but-one monitor resolution options after installing the update. If that fails, you will likely need to replace the RAM. Otherwise, try the DIMM First Aid application. In one case, reported on Apple's Discussion Boards, the problem was solved simply by switching the DIMM locations. The problem may occur even if you were previously using the 4.1.7/4.1.8 versions successfully. RAM loss We have received occasional reports of a failure to recognize third-party RAM after updating (a problem that was a big issue with the earlier 4.1.7/4.1.8 firmware update). The previously reported sound loss remains the only major issue (see one, two and three). More reader reports Beyond that, we continue to receive reports about other issues with the recently released version 4.1.9 firmware updates ( iMac, G4 Cube, Power Mac G4 AGP).

Update: In this thread, Apple confirms: "All Power Mac G4 (QuickSilver) computers have version 4.2.x of the BootROM (firmware) and this is more recent than the 4.1.9 update available for earlier Power Mac G4 computers." See also this Apple Discussions Board thread. Perhaps this relates to the reason this updater was pulled? Or more likely the firmware update is not intended for QuickSilver Macs: Eric Westby reports that his QuickSilver actually shipped with an even newer version of the firmware: 4.21f2. Peter Kemp adds: "I received this message trying to update a QuickSilver 867MHz." Another reader confirms this for a QuickSilver 733MHz.

(Thanks, Andrew Wilson.)Ĭan't install on QuickSilvers? Larry Gottschalk tried to install the update on a Dual 800 Power Mac, and got an error message stating that it was not intended for this machine. There is no indication on why it was removed or what the consequences may be if you already installed the now-removed version. The KB article now links to the previous 4.1.8 update. He is subtle and melancholy when saying goodbye to Constance, he is annoyed at the carelessness of Kinvar and he gets to do one of his big speeches at just the right moment too.Īll in all this is big in scale as a story and brings in a lot of elements and by and large pulls it off.Ĭheck out the rest of our Big Finish Reviews.Apple Power Mac G4 update pulled! There is also a lot of room for Colin Baker to show a lot of range that his Doctor maybe didn’t get a fair crack at doing on TV. We are also treated to a team up from 6th Doctor Companions Flip and Constance, 2 characters that couldn’t be more different, yet become a great counterpoint to each other in this adventure.

He is probably known best known for Game of Thrones now, but I remember him from Sky sitcom Trollied and many guest roles he had on shows when younger. In this case it does sometime feel a little crowded and I sometime did struggle a bit to keep up with that is happening (I will always acknowledge that this can be listener error or lack of attention when listening!) But what it gives to recommend this story far out-ways this.įirst of all I have been a fan of Joel Fry for ages. This story had a lot going on and I usually prefer more than less in a Doctor Who tale. Added to all this Constance receives a telegraph stating her husband is dead, but is that all it seems too? It turns out that our new alien friend Kinvar made an exchange using his home planets tech and now risks giving humans tech they should not yet have.įlip finds herself taken out of her own time in the middle of celebrations and planted into Constance’s right when the Doctor and Constance are there (by what can’t be a coincidence). He is then found by Kinvar ( Joel Fry) who wants his help. When the Doctor (Colin Baker) drops off Constance back home a short time after she left he then makes an excuse to get out of saying goodbye as it’s not easy for either of them. It’s all go in this one! Let me back up a bit.
